ECCMID 2023 will be held from Saturday 15 to Tuesday 18 April 2023, in a hybrid format allowing attendance onsite in Copenhagen, Denmark and also online. ECCMID is one of the leading and premier educational platforms for specialists in clinical microbiology, infectious disease, infection control and prevention and related disciplines. ECCMID 2023willofferexcellentopportunitiestocorporatepartnerstoshowcasetheirlatestfindings,sharetheirexperiencesandknowledge anddemonstratepracticaltechniquesandguidance.Lastyear,wehostedourfirsteverhybridECCMIDtoanoutstandingsuccess.We were able to maximise our accessibility by allowing onsite and online participation platforms that did not limit the ability of attendees andfacultytonavigatethemanyscientificsessionsandnetworkingopportunitiesthatECCMIDiswellknownfor. As we strive to increase the excellence of our annual congress constantly, we continue to develop our hybrid format for ECCMID. This yearweareexcitedtocontinuethehybridformatrefiningittobeasseamlessaspossiblebetweenonlineandonsiteattendance.During thesestilluncertaintimes,travellimitationsarenotuncommonandwithlivestreamingandvirtualQ&Aweretaintheflexibilityandac- cessibilityofthescientificcontentforallattendeesregardlessofgeographyortraveldisruptions. The ECCMID Programme Committee is working tirelessly to create a comprehensive and timely programme covering the entire range of EC- CMID topics with high-level speakers, well known experts and experienced and young scientists and practitioners. Participants will have the opportunity to meet researchers from many parts of the world to discuss clinical and laboratory practice. As in previous years, young professionals will also have the opportunity to discuss their ideas and projects with renowned experts in a variety of interactive sessions thatalsoprovidesuperbnetworkingopportunities.Thescientificcontentco-developedwiththeindustrysuchastheintegratedsympo- sia, comprises a substantial and notable part of our 2023 programme. This will be complemented by pipeline corners where early-stage companies and research groups will be offered a platform to present their antimicrobial therapies, diagnostic products in development to a wider audience. Last year our expanded programme included both Pre- and Post-ECCMID days to cover hot topics that require additional attentioninourscientificcommunityorhavefarreachingimpacts.Thesewellattendedindividuallearningdaysincreasedthebreadthof ECCMID and we will continue them this year over 6 convenient time slots, aligned with the working schedule of our audience. ManyfavouritefeatureswillbereturningthisyearforECCMID2023includingKeynotefireplacesessions,theECCMIDArtGalleryandthe widely popular ECCMID Escape Room. This year the escape room will feature a new story and two parallel rooms to accommodate the large interest. There are brand new features this year as well including the “Selective Pressure” quiz show session. Teams of four will compete against each other answering questions submitted by the ESCMID community on CM/ID topics. This fun engaging session will bring education and entertainment together for all attendees. ECCMID 2023 will enable our community to discuss, network, develop and share knowledge that is imperative for our discipline. The scientificprogrammewillhighlightthelatestscientificachievementsandwillcreateacomprehensiveintellectualandoperationalenvi- ronment for the acquisition of knowledge, skills and clinical judgement. The outstanding response to our call for abstracts ensures that thisyear’sprogrammealsocontainsthemostup-to-dateandcuttingedgescienceinthefield.Wehavealsointegratedawiderangeof newinnovativesolutionstoenableourindustrypartnerstoshowcasetheirlatestproducts,findings,technologiesandinnovations.The venue in Copenhagen offers all modern amenities required for the successful organisation of our congress and is reachable by public transport from the city centre and airport easily.
