There is also a statue portraying the mermaid in Copenhagen, Denmark, where the story was written and first published. It was my inspiration for agar art. I used Chromagar and bacterial isolates: Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Candida spp. The Little Mermaid AGAR ART– 34 – Tatiana Khaliulina S. aureus hemolysis and Salmonella black pigment after growing in Hecktoen agar in blood agar. My love for Microbiology AGAR ART– 37 – Susana Oliveira I learned to do cross-stitch when I was little. Sometimes I would prefer to stay at home and do it for hours straight, instead of going to the beach. I haven’t done it for years, but once I was a resident, I decided to give it a go; it was very relaxing. This is my project - the biggest, by far: 16.000 squares and more than 90 colors. When the pandemic started and everything was closed, there was not much to do. I happily managed to do some stitching. Right now, I still have two-thirds to go.
