PROVEN DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMANCE …833rd ECCMID Copenhagen, Denmark – INTEGRATED SYMPOSIA AND EXHIBITION GUIDE Welcome Address Dear colleagues and friends, The European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) is delighted to invite you to take part at the 33rd European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. ECCMID 2023 will be held from Saturday 15 to Tuesday 18 April 2023, in a hybrid format allowing attendance onsite in Copenhagen, Denmark and also online. ECCMID is one of the leading and premier educational platforms for specialists in clinical microbiology, in- fectious disease, infection control and prevention and related disciplines. ECCMID 2023 will offer excellent opportunities to corporate partners to showcase their latest findings, share their experiences and knowledge and demonstrate practical techniques and guidance. Last year, we hosted our first ever hybrid ECCMID to an outstanding success. We were able to max- imise our accessibility by allowing onsite and online participation platforms that did not limit the ability of attendees and faculty to navigate the many scientific sessions and networking opportunities that ECCMID is well known for. As we strive to increase the excellence of our annual congress constantly, we continue to de- velop our hybrid format for ECCMID. This year we are excited to continue the hybrid format refining it to be as seamless as possible between online and onsite attendance. During these still uncertain times, travel limitations are not uncommon and with livestreaming and virtual Q&A we retain the flexibility and accessibility of the scientific content for all attendees regard- less of geography or travel disruptions. The ECCMID Programme Committee is working tirelessly to create a comprehensive and time- ly programme covering the entire range of ECCMID topics with high-level speakers, well known experts and experienced and young scientists and practitioners. Participants will have the opportunity to meet researchers from many parts of the world to discuss clinical and labo- ratory practice. As in previous years, young professionals will also have the opportunity to discuss their ideas and projects with renowned experts in a variety of interactive sessions that also provide superb networking opportunities. The scientific content co-developed with the industry such as the integrated symposia, comprises a substantial and notable part of our 2023 programme. This will be complemented by pipeline corners where early-stage com- panies and research groups will be offered a platform to present their antimicrobial therapies, diagnostic products in development to a wider audience. Last year our expanded programme included both Pre- and Post-ECCMID days to cover hot topics that require additional attention in our scientific community or have far reaching im- pacts. These well attended individual learning days increased the breadth of ECCMID and we will continue them this year over 6 convenient time slots, aligned with the working schedule of our audience.933rd ECCMID Copenhagen, Denmark – INTEGRATED SYMPOSIA AND EXHIBITION GUIDE Many favourite features will be returning this year for ECCMID 2023 including Keynote fire- place sessions, the ECCMID Art Gallery and the widely popular ECCMID Escape Room. This year the escape room will feature a new story and two parallel rooms to accommodate the large interest. There are brand new features this year as well including the “Selective Pressure” quiz show session. Teams of four will compete against each other answering questions submitted by the ESCMID community on CM/ID topics. This fun engaging session will bring education and entertainment together for all attendees. ECCMID 2023 will enable our community to discuss, network, develop and share knowledge that is imperative for our discipline. The scientific programme will highlight the latest scien- tific achievements and will create a comprehensive intellectual and operational environment for the acquisition of knowledge, skills and clinical judgement. The outstanding response to our call for abstracts ensures that this year’s programme also contains the most up-to-date and cutting edge science in the field. We have also integrated a wide range of new innovative solutions to enable our industry partners to showcase their latest products, findings, tech- nologies and innovations. The venue in Copenhagen offers all modern amenities required for the successful organisation of our congress and is reachable by public transport from the city centre and airport easily. After a day full of inspiring sessions and fruitful discussions, we hope that you will have time to explore Copenhagen, a cosmopolitan city with a rich history and culture. We look forward to seeing you both onsite in Copenhagen and online! Thank you for again mak- ing this congress one of the top scientific events of the year.
