Because of the diverse, clinically focused educational offering, participants are able to tailor the curriculum to meet the needs of international clinicians of all levels of experience. Accreditation Statement and Credit Designation European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (UEMS/EACCME) The 31st European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and In- fectious Diseases (ECCMID) is accredited by the European Ac- creditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Spe- cialists (UEMS): www.uems.net The 31st European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infec- tious Diseases (ECCMID) is designated for up to 32 European external CME credits. CME Accreditation American Medical Association (AMA) Through an agreement between the European Union of Medical Specialists and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Information on the process to convert EACCME credits to AMA credits can be found at www.ama-assn.org/go/internationalcme Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, rec- ognised by the UEMS-EACCME for ECMEC credits are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. For more information, visit: www.royalcollege.ca Credit Breakdown Each participant should claim only those hours of credit that he/ she actually spent in the educational activity. All CME Certificates will be send by email by the end of October 2021. Certificates of Attendance Pre-ECCMID Days Certificates of participation (not including CME credits) will be emailed to participants not later than one week following each pre-ECCMID day. In order to receive a certificate, participants must spend at least one hour actively participating in live ses- sions. Main ECCMID Days (9-12 July 2021) Certificates of participation (not including CME credits) will be emailed to participants following the congress. CME certificates (if applicable), will follow afterwards, specifying the particiant's amount of hours spent attending online sessions. Certificates of presentation Certificates of presentation for abstract presenters will be emailed to presenting authors following the congress. Certificates of presentation will be sent to presenting authors only. Presenting authors are responsible for distributing to their co-authors. Disclosure and Resolution of Personal Conflicts of Interest In accordance with CME/CPD accreditation criteria and stan- dards for commercial support to ensure balance, independence, objectivity, and scientific rigour, those in control of the educa- tional content must disclose potential or actual conflicts of in- terest. Disclosure information is evaluated and conflicts of in- terest resolved. Disclosure is made to participants prior to the activity. Participants will be asked on the evaluation to assess the objectivity and independence of the event. Disclosure infor- mation can be viewed on the congress website under the CME information pages.22FINAL PROGRAMME – 31st ECCMID Online 2021 Introduction to the Scientific Programme Educational Workshops Educational Workshops are organised in cooperation with ESCMID study groups and partnering organisations. They contain review talks and/or case studies that lend themselves to discussions. The goal of this format is education through interactivity. Meet-the-Expert Sessions Meet-the-Expert sessions led by recognised authorities in their fields. After a short presentation the experts will open the session for discussion, which will be driven by active audience participation. TAE Sessions 2021 As ECCMID 2021 will be fully online, there is no onsite TAE Day in 2021, as we know it from previous years. Nevertheless, we would like to create a similar feeling to TAE Day in an online envi- ronment. Therefore, we will be hosting two divided TAE sessions on Saturday, 10th July. The TAE Session 1 (10.06.21, 09:30-10:30 CEST) will focus on the TAE Outstanding Awards, recent publications of ESCMID Young Scientist Members and will include the famous TAE Quiz. TAE Session 1 is open to all ECCMID ticket holders, this session can be found in the scientific programme and no pre-registration is required. The TAE Session 2 – Round tables with moderators (10.06.21, 11:15-12:15 CEST) will provide young scientists the opportunity to discuss and chat directly with experienced moderators about their career paths. TAE Session 2 is only for invited pre-regis- tered persons. Keynote and Award Lectures (KN) Renowned experts will share their expertise in their keynote lec- tures of 60 minutes. Symposia Symposia convene renowned speakers from all over the world and cover a wide range of topics in the fields of clinical microbiol- ogy, infectious diseases and infection control. A number of sym- posia are arranged in cooperation with ESCMID study groups, while others are jointly organised with partnering societies or organisations. Some of the symposia give an overview over re- cent developments and research results, while others review the literature or are presented as pro-con debates. Symposia arranged by the industry are organised in close co- operation with the ECCMID Programme Committee. For details please see the Integrated Symposia and Exhibition Guide. Oral Sessions These sessions are created by the ECCMID Programme Committee from the top-rated abstracts. The programme features four types of oral sessions: • 1-hour Oral Sessions (five speakers, two appointed chairs); talk duration: 10 min. per presentation; discussion: 10 min. at the end of the session. • 2-hour Oral Sessions (seven speakers, two appointed chairs); talk duration: 10 min. per presentation; discussion: 20 min. at the end of the session. • 1-hour Mini-Oral Flash Sessions (ten speakers, two appointed chairs); talk duration: 5 min. per presentation (only 3 slides allowed); discussion: 10 min. at the end of the session. • Case Sessions Case sessions feature case reports which are discussed to highlight clinical lessons. They are therefore meant to be educational events. Case sessions can last either 1 hour or 90 min. and include five to seven different cases. • ePoster Review Sessions In the new ePoster Review sessions, a moderator will discuss a series of ePosters that are all related to a specific topic. ePoster review sessions will take place in both 30-minute and 1-hour format. All ePosters are available on the ECCMID platform on all congress days. The presenting author is indicated by an asterisk (*).Scientific Programme 23FINAL PROGRAMME – 31st ECCMID Online 2021 Sessions of particular interest to: Infectious Disease Fellows Clinical Microbiologists Infection Control Practitioners Public Health ID CM IC The following colour codes have been used throughout the pro- gramme: Educational Workshop Meet-the-Expert Session TAE Trainees Day 2021 Keynote Lecture Symposium Integrated Symposium (see Industry Guide) Pipeline Corner (see Industry Guide) Oral Session Case Session ePoster Review Mini-oral Flash Session Open Forum Special Session PH Open Forums Open forums are 1-hour sessions where speakers discuss with the audience ideas and views on a particular issue. Typically Open Forums feature controversies and policy-related aspects. Speakers can make use of electronic presentations, but that is not mandatory. The allocation of time to presentations and dis- cussions is tailored for each session, depending on its specific agenda. Pipeline corners This session type allows small innovative pharmaceutical com- panies - with early-stage diagnostic or therapeutic solutions - to present their products to a wider audience. For details on Pipe- line Corners, please see the Exhibition Guide. Special sessions Special sessions complement the scientific program, providing an opportunity for presentations or extended dialogue and ex- changes beyond what is usually possible in the regular scientific sessions. ECCMID 2021 will feature the following special sessions: • WHO Panel Discussion • ESCMID Awards • Slam poetry session • TAE Symposium24FINAL PROGRAMME – 31st ECCMID Online 2021 Scientific Programme Overview Friday, 9 July 2021 1.
