< Previous– 30 – Nitin Gupta This is a picture of a water bubble I took in Kochi, India. This was just after I had completed my ID residency and all my colleagues had travelled together to attend a conference. It was like a farewell trip and we had a fun time together. Towards the end of the trip, we visited a beach just before leaving for the airport. This bubble has the reflection of me and my friends in the backdrop of the setting sun. To me, the bubble signified the glorious moments we had during the residency. Moments PHOTO- GRAPHY– 31 – Nitin Gupta I took this picture while balancing on the slope of a lake waiting expectantly for the sun to set. In the centre of a lake, there is a tree which houses some migratory birds in the winter. In the foreground of the picture, a silhouette of an Asian open billed stork can be seen. The plate was grown for three days at 37 C, and then stored in anaerobic atmosphere at room temperature for several days. The heart was observed by a lucky chance. Merry Christmas from Lachnoanaerobaculum! PHOTO- GRAPHY– 33 – Visakha Revana Irawan For anti-masker protesters, wearing mask amid the pandemic is a violation of their freedom. But you have to realize that like it or not, we’re all in this together. If you refuse the mandatory use of face masks, then are you ready to get the Corona virus and meet the frontline workers in the hospital? The choice is yours. Break the health protocols or break the chain of COVID-19 transmission? You don’t want to meet us in the hospital PHOTO- GRAPHY– 34 – Aloui Khaoula Gram stain of a lumbar puncture: presence of Gram-negative diplococci evocative of Nesseria meningitidis. Nesseria meningitidis PHOTO- GRAPHY– 35 – Chris Longshaw A montage of bacterial colonies I photographed while culturing and screening soil bacteria for producers of secondary metabolites which inhibited growth of pathogenic bacteria and fungi. I was astonished by the diversity of different microorganisms living in a gram of normal garden soil and the wonderful variety of colony shapes and pigments they produced...many of them potent inhibitors of resistant pathogens. I strongly believe soil bacteria and fungi still represent an untapped resource of inspiration for new antimicrobials which could produce new medicines to combat antimicrobial resistance. The use of face masks use and restriction of visits changed social interaction. This old non-covid patient with hearing loss, who had a prolonged hospitalization, reported a feeling of joy on sunny days.
